Proof please that they have spent anything on infiniband and are actually "working" on it. All CCP have said is that they intend to use infiniband. No progress has been divulged, and no timeline for implementation has been provided.
Many have asked CCP for some kind of "infiniband status report" for the last several months without a single tangible response.
The "Infiniband Upgrade" is snake oil (vaporware) until CCP can actually disclose some statistics, milestones and etc.
I'm not gonna go sift through 100 pages of topics to collect evidence for you. I do recall a thread with a GM in it saying they are CURRENTLY rewriting eve for infiniband. They also stated it takes a long time to do this and are reluctant to set a timeframe. If they do set a time frame and it takes longer they will get a thousand more whine threads on top of the thousand being produced already.

You recall incorrectly, no where has a Dev stated they are CURRENTLY rewriting anything and CCP has already had "a long time" to rework code and etc.
Provide a linky to your alleged Dev post, and I'd be happy to recant, or possibly even taunt you a second time.
Ok how about you prove to me that they aren't currently working on it and that a dev hasn't said it? Like I said I'm not sifting through 100 pages of threads to find it for you.

Google did me a favor. Here you go.
"The project team doing the infniband implementation as part of the HPC implementation are working very hard to get this out to you as soon as Practicable. But this is a Major recode of large parts of our low level code. We are basically ripping apart our own custom built Cluster management software and replacing it with calls to the HPC system. We are then recoding the software services to make use of the new communications framework allowing rapid transfer of data between Sol nodes and the splitting off of any part of the code that can be threaded.
This is not something we can "Just do it" too. We are working hard on this and will get it out when it is ready."

I require a RECENT post by a Dev, not one that was almost a year ago.
Less then 9 months ago
And I don't give a f%$@ what you require.

Your linky is very old and very weak, but to your credit it does actually exist.
So, would you consider 9-months "a long time"? I do, especially when numerous requests have been made since then for any kind of reasonable update to how the "infiniband upgrade" is coming along, and we've got zilch.
I have stated many times here in the last few months that I believe all this "infiniband upgrade" stuff is still up on a whiteboard because CCP is far too distracted by other things. You would think CCP would be eager to boast about improvements or at least be able to claim they have reached some milestones in regard to the project unless of course there aren't any.
That thread has more updates on it BTW that last up to july or august. CCP has a history of not updating the community, and its rather annoying I agree. You have to image though that something on this scale takes a LONG time to implement. They have to recode all of eve, then they have to test everything, and a ton of other technical jargin. Its something that should take years (as in like 1 1/2 - 2 years) to roll out to the community. It would be nice to keep us updated though.
I think what is rubbing me the wrong way about your posts is your assumptions that they are doing nothing, and they're selling us snake oil, and just general blanket statements like you have the whole situation figured out (like you're able to see right through CCP).

He must be a fan of hallucinogens ... after all, I can see through people when I'm on them. Lol.
Truth being said though, the community desperately needs an update from CCP regarding this. It's over-due.
I agree with you 100%. It would be nice to know where they're at with it. Doesn't have to be an estimated time of when it will be ready but just a plain overview of something being accomplished. And maybe a picture of some proof they are working on it for all the skeptics.

You're right its starting to feel more like a troll. Regardless, these whine threads don't really accomplish anything, and my arguing with people about it (its in my nature ) isn't going to solve anything either. So if its that bad for you then stop playing until its fixed. If you feel CCP continues to lie to you then don't give them your money.
